| He didn't have a backpack |
like I said, the minor details are irrelevant.
he had a bag of skittles and a can of iced tea.
Zimmerman had a loaded handgun.

| You're the one assuming someone walking to a parent's house with candy can't be capable of assaulting anyone. |
I'm not assuming
anything.
that's the difference.
I've been saying from the very beginning that NONE OF US know exactly what happened and the little bit of physical evidence that has been collected is inconclusive at best.
the only thing I'm assuming is that Zimmerman was out of his league and overreacted, leading himself into a situation that he never should have been in.

| You keep ignoring the physical altercation there is evidence of. |
if anything, I seem to be one of the only people here who is actually respecting the evidence.
it doesn't point to a clear picture for either Zimmerman or Martin.

1A.) Did either of them have a right to be where they were. 1B.) Did either have the requirement of retreat?
2.) Did Zimmerman have the option to flee when confronted with a violent attack? 2B.) Does lying on his back being battered prevent retreat?
3.) Did Martin Strike or threaten Zimmerman with enough confiction to cause Zimmerman to fear "serious bodily harm or death".
4.) Did Zimmerman's presence cause Martin to fear "serious bodily harm or death". |
1.) Martin had the right to be there since he was visiting family and had been there before.
Zimmerman had the right to be there since it is public property.
1A.) they both had the option to retreat.
but we don't know who started the physical aspect of the confrontation.
2.) we don't know that Zimmerman was attacked first.
but Zimmerman had the option to not follow Martin. he had the option to leave when he was told that following Martin was not needed.
2B.) maybe?
we weren't there, we can't really know.
3.) maybe?
we weren't there.
4.) maybe?
we weren't there. but Martin was clearly just going to visit family who lived in that neighborhood. I'm sure that he was made uncomfortable by Zimmerman's presence. Martin knew that he wasn't doing anything wrong so it's natural to expect that he might ask Zimmerman "why are you following me?" at some point.

I read his twitters, and he had a rather unhealthy attitude towards women.
Certainly isn't the little angel he's often portrayed as! |
Twitter accounts for teenagers aren't exactly the most accurate portrayal of their personality.
so he was a black kid being raised by a single mother (largely) and he acted like a rapper sometimes.
oh no. he sounds like just 75% of every other teenager I've ever been around. I was 17 at one time in my life. I said dumb things about women and acted like a tool sometimes.
it doesn't mean I was an actual gang banger who went around looking for trouble.
it means I was a teenager

fake gold teeth? I've worn those to parties before.
throwing up the middle finger? I'm pretty everyone's done that.
