| QUOTE (europeanbob @ Saturday, Aug 4 2012, 14:20) | It does add up, for the reason I keep repeating: they can put the money in their accounts before the game gets to the punter, because we are *not* their customers. They are paid by the channel. (You can say similar stuff about the share price: it reflects *future* performance; it will go up when a definite GTAV date is announced and keep going up until release, unless the game starts getting poor reviews. It's absolutely not dependent on the actual sales until it becomes clear those are going badly wrong).
mvega0422 has a hot point though, there's an obvious gap in the schedule 13Q1, but Jan seems unlikely being post-Xmas.
You don't need to be a financial expert to read this stuff. It's intended for investors too - aka anyone. | Me and a couple guys communicate through Private Messages, and we're really optimistic about 2 dates: December 12, 2012 - 12/12/12 December 21, 2012 - The "End of the World" day

December 12, 2012 - 12/12/12 December 21, 2012 - The "End of the World" day | I'm not sure of December 12nd and 21st. New games usually are released on Tuesdays in North-america and in other regions on Fridays. So December 21st could be possible in other regions than North-america but it'd be probably too soon to Christmas. In my opinion this are the possible release dates in 2012 in North-america: October 16th-23rd-30th November 6th-13rd-20th-27th December 4th-11st-18th

Would definitely need to be earlier that Dec 21 to hit Xmas; although companies like Amazon will play games to arrange delivery on the day of release or just after for hit title, but delivery is always slow at that point of the year. Plus the 21st is a Friday, last working day before Xmas. I would be overjoyed for a Dec 12 release. That would hit Xmas for sure, but they'd have to have that date in stone by now to start lining everything up (including, eg., manufacture). I'm doubtful of that, I think February is what they're aiming for on a console release. I worry that could slip and, slightly more importantly for me, that PC is not going to be FY13

| QUOTE (europeanbob @ Saturday, Aug 4 2012, 13:11) | In all honesty, I think it's clear that GTAV has slipped somewhat - the only question is by how much.
If it turns out that they can't do it for '12 but can get it out for February, then I think Bioshock slides, even if it is gold by that point. GTA is the more important game to release, the only reason they would delay it due to conflict would be if BI literally couldn't sell with GTA on the market. | I disagree that there's any evidence of slippage. The financial implication of FY'13 has been consistent since it was first mentioned in May 2011. That's a lot of quarters of saying exactly the same thing, all the way through the most recent. The only arguable evidence of slippage is people's opinions about whether it's too quiet right now.

That's a lot of quarters of saying exactly the same thing, all the way through the most recent. The only arguable evidence of slippage is people's opinions about whether it's too quiet right now. | And the fact that Rockstar has pretty much never delivered a major game on time. For all the theories I'm still much more concerned about that and the things we know about Rockstar's internal culture (can get messy at times). IV took 4 years to make, RDR 5, LA Noire 6 or more. And this is one they won't release until it's damn near perfect. Maybe TTWO high earnings projection is just to string along investors and the next report they'll apologize profusely for not reaching their goal and put the blame on Rockstar. Since TTWO doesn't really own Rockstar that'll be all the consequence they face. Investors and fans will grumble, but when V releases a couple months later all will be forgotten. I know, it's another theory but there's the problem, we can think up a hundred theories. Fact is, what we're trying to describe with those theories is a major video game. Technologically and designwise it's at the cutting edge and culturally it's bigger than the beatles. NO THEORY you or me can think up is gonna cover all those angles and possibilities.
