Hi,

I have downloaded Dutch police cars for GTA IV: TBoGT: the Vito and the "Dutch Police" car in the downloads http://www.gta4-mods.com/vehicles/dutch-police-f3213

I have placed each one of them in the common directory and the TBoGT directory, so both appear alternatingly in the game.
Ok I had to rename them so they would "fit" there.

But now that I installed Els for the lights, the cars bug enormously in the game! When Els is enabled in SinglePlayer mode, the game even crashes after a while...
What I get is: flashing lights flashing in a whole or even disappearing, full recovery of the vehicle when switching on the flashing lights with the J-key and the doors suddenly don't open or close correctly: they stutter.

I must have done something terribly wrong

For installing Els, I copied the entire file into the root directory of GTA (4 files and a map)

I think the problem is occurring due to the saved vehicles "in the yellow space" after installing. Remove them [or start a new game] then see what happens.

Well, I actually went to reinstalling the game, installing the update, then the ELS (without the update, the game wouldn't launch with ELS).
So far so good.
Then I added the Dutch police car (the model from the actual download) in the common folder and started the game.
It's called "police2" in its files.

"Great, the cars are visible in the game, now let's test one.
...
Normal siren works fine. *Hit J* *Car is repaired and light set flashes as a whole, with faint lights btw*
Oh come on!"

Since the download has a high rating, it can't be the source, so the only thing I can think of is the fact that the game is not just GTA IV, but its Episodes version.
But I don't feel like buying that version just to see if that's indeed it...

Oh and its flashing lights are transparent, in case it wasn't normal.

Also, before reinstalling the game, I also had the Dutch Vito police car, which had almost similar problems, like the doors flapping when opening/closing them. But its lights worked fine.

Your problem is that you just copied a Folder (=map) containing only one file you'll need, the Visualsettings.dat. However, its not neccesairy for ELS to work.
A solution is to fully reinstall your GTA IV, then backup everything and then install your cars. after that, you should get the latest version of Schripthook, dsound and scripthookdotnet.
However, Scripthook and dsound should be in the ELS map or folder, along with ELS.asi and another file which can be opened using notepad. and finally copy the ELS.asi and the other ELS file into your GTA IV directory, the same place where your launchIV and other applications should be.

Hope it worked Btw, Installing for GTA IV should be the same way as the EFLC, only the file directory path is different. And that Door bug and fully repaired bug, Its a bug in the mod nothing is wrong with that.
