[SOLVED] MISSING TEXTURES!

if you have the bug where the ALL TEXTURES GO AWAY after 2-5min
this will work for you! 100%

i finally found problem: system cache

INSTRUCTIONS:
1. go here and download Systweak CacheBoost program
its free for 30 days
http://www.systweak.com/CacheBoost/download.asp?pName=CBP

(you can try to find something similar and even freeware - but its that 100% WILL WORK)
2. install and start it
3. run game! and ENJOY! (but with 15fps till patch and catalyst 8.12)

HINT FROM ME: if you have *freezes* / *fps drops* set RENDER QUALITY to LOW - it helps a bit...

also set Shadows Density to 0! (not to 1) it helps a bit...

MY THEORY
hmmm i think that all guys who have this bug have "pirate-WINDOWS OS"
- 95% people (LOL) / and 5% with license windows can run the game fine!!
ITS REALLY SEEMS TO BE TRUE

SP1 for VIsta and SP3 for XP may contain some security holes
THIS IS WHY SP1 and SP3 is needed

NEW LIVE 2.0 service will make difference to work of system cache

and this difference will be different for guys with licensed OS and cracked OS!

with other words: i think here is some difference between work of system cache on licensed and cracked OS...

and finally your system cache DOES NOT work properly as expected by GTA4's code... are you get it guys?

And this program will manage all processes include GTA4.exe - and since build-in *game cache manager* does not work - this program will manage and optimize it...

so lets vote and test this theory! LOLzz

Licensed: mean that you actually own ORIGINAL DVD BOX WITH KEY
Pirate: mean that your copy is activated via RELOADED CRACK or OEM or OTHER CRACKS

I look into this when I get home, for me enabling superfetch did the trick.

well i dont have 1920x1050...
i only have 1280x1024
so i cant actually test it!

but! it works well on 1280 and all commands in command line WORK

so i am pretty sure that you CAN

i have LICENSED XP64 and LECENSED RETAIL GAME ! ! ! still canot fix the problems, and the frame rates are poor i cannot change the resolution of the game to less than 1600x1200 or it'll crash

to be honest i have pirate windows and pirate copy of the game at work and everithing runs perfectly

I think you theory is wrong. I have a legal version of vista with bugs,

however, this seemed to do the trick but the game freezes for a few secs with everything on low. At least its playable until the patch comes out

tested this game only on a PC with legit WINDOWS and SP1 and SP3

if it so - this really will explain why 90% men have problems... lol

PS. maybe you have bug only with CAR TEXTURES?????
because we actually talk about ALL WORLD TEXTURES

I don't think that this has anything to do with whether or not Windows is legit. Mine isn't legit, it was at one time, but Microsoft decided that because I upgraded a piece of hardware, that I miraculously have a "new computer", so they want me to spend another $180.00. Fat chance.

Anyway. I had the texture issue and it had to do with my putting in the -norestrictions switch in my shortcut. I removed that one switch and kept all others and bam, the sucker works WONDERFUL now. I have every single option maxed out and it runs perfectly smooth with no texture problems.

Bumped because this works.

I was having the memory leak problem till I found out about this program on an ATI forum.

Only problem is it might cause lots of stuttering, but actually fixes the memory leak problem.

Also, I have a legit Windows XP Media Center OS and I had the memory leak problem, so it has nothing to do with if you have a legit or pirated copy of the OS, or the game.

This should be stickied.

you are lucky... i fixed textures but i have black stripes on all objects lol... and fps drops / freezes...

still no fun to play... i even dont want to start GTA 4

i really think that NVIDIA gave Rockstar 1million $ to make gta 4 unplayable for guys with ATI for a week - 7 days

12december will be the patch and its exactly 7 days since 4 dec
so i am absolutely sure that NVIDIA paid for it
to make ATI bad reputation as always... very clever...

Instead of using Systweak (which is for XP), use Superfetch (which is for vista)
