GTA Treasurehunt
Idea, Programming and Contest-leaders:
Dutchy3010 and PatrickW What is it?It's a contest using a specially created GTA SA modification, which all revolves about searching. Not only newly created hidden packages, but also other things and people. There are two kind of "missions" in this contest:
- Searching hidden packages.
- Searching other things with special tasks.
The contest will be conducted simultaneously on
gtaforum.nl and on
gtaforums.comWhat do I need to join the contest- GTA-SA for PC (v1 or v2 downgraded with a patch).
- A free savefile slot.
- Time to search
How can I join?By simply replying to this topic, you will be added to the list of participants.
Will it damage my San Andreas? No, nothing of your SA install will be overwritten or changed. The modification is based on a so-called Mission-pack. This is a technique to replace the missions of SA is a elegant and safe way, without changing your SA install itself. It can afterwards be removed very simple and safe and even while it is installed, you can still play SA the normal way with your existing savefiles.
How do I install and start the modification?- Unzip the this archive.
- Copy the directory "MPACK" into the directory "GTA San Andreas User Files" in "My Documents".
- Start GTA San Andreas , start a new game and choose from the list that pops up: "Treasure Hunt".
How will the contest work? The contest consists of a number of rounds, which will each last 3 days. After starting the modification (as described above) you will be placed in a building with 9 pickups. At the start of each round, we will give the correct sequence in which the pickups have to be picked up. With that sequence the "missions" for that round will be started and you have to meet your objectives. When you see the "Mission Passed" message, you must take a screenshot. After that you will be presented with a save screen, which you should use to save the game in your free slot. After that you have to send the screenshot and the savefile to
PatrickW or
Dutchy3010. After each round, points will be awarded based on the sequence of arrival. The total points over all the rounds will determine the overall winner.
How can I remove the modification?By simply deleting the directory "MPACK" from "GTA San Andreas User Files" all changes will be removed.
Rules- The submitted screenshot and savefile must match.
- You can only submit your own screenshot and savefile.
- Use of cheat-codes is not allowed.
- In case of a disagreement, the contest-leaders will decide.
Contest Time Schedule:Below you can find the starting times of the rounds, at these times, the acces-code ( sequence to pickup the objects in the factory) will be published. Players can submit their files for a certain round, up to the start of the next round.

PointsPoints are awarded each round based on the order in which the submissions arrive. The amount of points that are given depends on the number of players at the start of the contest. When we start with N players, than the winner of each round will get N points, the second gets N-1, the third N-2 and so on, up to the last who still gets 1 point. In addition to this the first one gets 10 additional point, the second 5 and the third 2.
But these points are only given if you submit a correct screen and savefile. Players who do not submit, get of course 0 points.
Example: If we would have 10 players of which 7 submitted their files, we would have the following points:
| rank | points |
|---|
| 1 | 10 + 10 = 20 |
| 2 | 9 + 5 = 14 |
| 3 | 8 + 2 = 10 |
| 4 | 7 = 7 |
| 5 | 6 = 6 |
| 6 | 5 = 5 |
| 7 | 4 = 4 |
| 8 | 0 = 0 |
| 9 | 0 = 0 |
| 10 | 0 = 0 |
Bonus ActivityIn addition to the seven rounds, we've also included a Bonus Activity, to keep you occupied after meeting the round's objectives. During the rounds, in addition to the normal round objectives, we've hidden the nine objects from the factory somewhere in the whole of San Andreas. So after you finished a round, you can go back in the game and search for these objects. The one who submits a PM with a screen of one of these objects as first for that object will get a bonus reward of 25 points. So with these 9 objects, 9 x 25 bonus points can be earned.
Tie-breakerAt the end of the contest we will have a "Tie-breaker" round. No points can be earned here, but it is only used in case players end up with equal amounts of points "a Tie" after the 7 rounds. To be able to determine the final ranking in those cases, the time of this Tie-breaker, determines the order. Of course, players not in a "Tie"-situations can also play this round, just for fun.
ParticipantsThere is no limit on the number of people that can participate. All participants that have enlisted will receive a reminder in PM.
